COURSE DESCRIPTION

Our Culinary Arts program offers our students academic and hands-on learning experiences that develop skills needed in life and for college and career readiness. We prepare our students to be career ready by introducing career opportunities and educational requirements needed in the foodservice industry. We strive for excellence, teaching our students the importance of safety and sanitation, professionalism in a commercial kitchen, and basic culinary skills that will give them an advantage for entry level positions upon the completion of high school.

Our program focuses on developing the fundamental skills required for a career in the Culinary Arts. Students will be introduced to techniques and practices within a group setting and assigned to demonstrate their ability to understand and execute specific culinary skills. Students will learn to prepare and sample food to develop a foundation of both cooking skills and taste analysis, participate in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, learn about the many facets of the foodservice industry, and participate in catering events.
